The Great Escape is a charity motoring event that takes place in Australia as a fundraising and awareness effort for Cystic Fibrosis. It is the CFA’s (Cystic Fibrosis Australia) premier fundraising event that has a rich history of 12 years.

The rally takes place over 10 challenging and adventurous days and attracts over 40 cars each year, with over 150 participants. The rally tours some of the most wonderful destinations in Australia including the great Keppel Island, world heritage listed Fraser Island, the Red Centre and Ayers Rock, the Birdsville Races, the Whitsundays, the magnificent Great Ocean Road, Burke & Wills Dig Tree, Batemans Bay, Kangaroo Island, the snow covered Alps of Victoria, the Rainbow beach and many more!

The Great Escape has forged a unique identity as a laid back motorsport event that caters for all walks of life. Whether car buffs or just friends and family looking to get into an epic escapade, the Great Escape accommodates all. Fans and participants alike turn up in myriads to experience the fun, pomp and colour of this event.

There is little regulation for participating vehicles which are only required to be legally road registered, roadworthy and have the necessary compulsory equipment. Any age or type of motor vehicle can participate – the bolder and weirder your car and crew are, the better. The focal point of the Great Escape is the short fun-filled days that allow time to view the iconic sites and congregate for exciting group activities. The Great Escape is neither a speed event nor an endurance event. However, it still poses a challenge on some of Australia's bush roads but the only exhaustion will be from all the thrilling exploits. The 2015 Great Escape runs from 7th – 17th September 2015 with a new and exciting track starting in Kiama, heading to Byron Bay via Back of Bourke.
